If you love to travel, embrace new experiences, and are all about stepping outside of your comfort zone – you’ve come to the right place. If your usual adventures consist of hostel hopping and an occasional stay at the Holiday Inn, try switching up the routine and immerse yourself into the many artistic hotels around the globe.
Whether you’ve got cold feet, a passion for the outdoors, or just appreciate some crazy art – we’ve got you covered. We’ve pulled together 5 of the most unique hotels of the world that are bound to give you an itch to travel.
Ice Hotel, Sweden
Located in the village of Jukkasjärvi in Sweden, this icy getaway is the world’s first Ice Hotel. It opened its doors up in 1990, and has been rebuilt every year from December to April. Rooms and decorations are designed by international artists and there’s a different architect for every single room. Rooms are about -5 degrees Celsius in temperature, which means you get to sleep in polar tested sleeping bags (how fun 😉 ).
A little too cold for you? Fear not. You’ve got the option to book a warm room as well.
Free Spirit Spheres, Canada
If you’ve always wanted to camp out in a tree house, you may have just found your new digs. The Free Spirit Spheres are suspended among tall trees in the west coast rainforest of Vancouver Island, Canada. There are three distinct spheres available for stay overnight: Eve, Eryn, and Melody. (Note: Eve, not Yves. Leave the YSL clutch at home for this one!)
Talk about a real moment with Mother Nature, there’s no better way to experience the lush greens of the west coast.
Cappadocia Cave Suites Hotel, Turkey
The Cappadocia Cave Suites Hotel is located in the city of Göreme, in the historical region of Turkey. Designed to depict an empirical home with a modern twist, these suites sure are something different. They offer a great Turkish Bath and Massage service that’ll make you feel like royalty to top it all off.
One night in a spa cave? Sure, why not?
Poseidon Undersea Resorts, Fiji
This next hotel makes your childhood Little Mermaid fantasies a total reality with its literal under the sea set-up. The Poseidon Undersea Resorts in Fiji is what we like to call goals, actual goals.
But there’s a twist.
The hotel is not in complete existence yet. Construction of the resort began in 2001, but later ran into issues in 2008. Apparently they’re taking reservations, but location and timing for the opening are still unknown.
Sounds a bit fishy, we know.
In the meantime, if you’re looking for an underwater fix, there’s always The Palm in Dubai (at a casual 30,000 AED a night, of course).
Hằng Nga Guesthouse, Vietnam
Otherwise known as the “Crazy House” the Hang Nga is bound to leave you insane in the membrane. The bold and brilliant architecture houses various guestrooms, each with their own distinct theme. The outrageously artistic home is vibrant with colours, shapes, and a whole bunch of twist and turns. Started in the ’90s now it’s here; created by Hang Nga, who’s got a PhD in architecture and is known to create some local masterpieces.
