This year Halloween is a bit spookier than normal. Between a worldwide pandemic, social distancing, and a series of Halloween traditions being cancelled — Quarantine Halloween, or better yet: Quarantine-O-Ween is here and in full force.
The good news is Halloween is on a Saturday this year, and it happens to be the same night when clocks go back an hour (Nov 1 @ 2am) – meaning you’ve got an extra hour to celebrate.
We’re rounding up 5 ways you can still celebrate Halloween this year with Quarantine Halloween – all from a distance, of course.
A Very Quarantined Halloween
1. Have a movie marathon
There’s nothing better to get you in the Quarantine Halloween spirit than a movie marathon. Across Netflix, Disney+, and all the other handy streaming services, all our childhood favorites are completely accessible and on demand. A few classics to consider for your movie marathon:
- Hocus Pocus
- Halloweentown
- Ghostbusters
- Halloween
- IT
- Double Double Toil and Trouble
- Scream
- Beetlejuice
2. Host a Zoom Quarantine Halloween costume party
Though it might not sound as much fun as your typical Halloween costume party, don’t give up on dressing up just yet. Invite your friends and family to a virtual costume party. Dress up, have a pumpkin carving competition, play drinking games, and more.
3. Make a creepy cocktail
This Quarantine Halloween, test your creativity (and bartending skills) by mixing up a not-so-typical, and extra creepy cocktail. From poison apple cocktails to a smoky witch’s cauldron mix, you’re about to go from boo to boo-zy real quick. Here are some other great options for creepy cocktails this year!
4. Let your childhood candy dreams come true
Who said trick-or-treating and candy on Halloween was something we needed to grow out of? Definitely not! Treat yourself to a candy land dream by stocking up on some of your favorite treats before the Halloween weekend.
If you’re feeling extra crafty, plan to make a few Halloween baked goods this year too. I mean… pumpkin patch brownies, anyone?!
5. Blast classic Halloween beats all weekend long
Last but not least, nothing beats some good old Halloween tunes to get you right into that Halloween mood. When you’re taking a break from your movie marathon, or if you’re in the kitchen getting your baked goods ready — blast some class Halloween jams to groove to. Here’s a short playlist of some of those Halloween classics:
- Monster Mash – Bobby Pickett
- Ghostbusters – Ray Parker Jr.
- Thriller – Michael Jackson
- I Put a Spell on You – Bette Midler
- Halloween Theme Song – John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, Daniel Davies
- A Nightmare on My Street – DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
- This is Halloween – The Citizens of Halloween
Happy Quarantine-O-Ween! 🎃
